Jay Rodríguez is a textile designer from Puerto Rico. Her interest in films led her to attain a Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Puerto Rico(UPR). In the hopes of continuing her education in film, she went on to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where her life changed completely when she discovered the world of Fibers.
She enjoys the variety of processes that exist within Fibers, but her favorites are weaving and print design. In her latest work she explores the concept of connections by combining traditional techniques such as weaving, appliqué, trapunto and embroidery, and giving them a contemporary twist. Films continue to have a special place in her life, as she uses them as sources for inspiration.
Her work has been showcased in SCAD’s Fibers' Graduation Show (2018), SCAD's Best of 3D (2016) and SCAD’s Fibers Open Studio (2016, 2017, 2018).
